Dreamweaver Design Team Submission

Here is the another Dreamweaver Design Team submission. I had SO much fun with this one! The fish are done with a Dreamweaver Stencil that I ran with metal through my Revolution. I used the Spellbinders tan mat, and the whole experience was too easy! I used the front and the back of the stencil so that I would have each of the two fish swimming in two different directions. I then stained them with Ranger Alcohol inks and used Glue Dots and stitching to hold them on to the page.

The words were done with the Dreamweaver pond stencil. I cut the letters with Quickutz Diesel alphabet from Bo Bunny paper and stenciled the flowers and lily pads with ink. Then, I pasted the whole thing with Dreamweaver Translucent Paste.

Finally, the random lily pads and dragonflies were done with a Dreamweaver stencil on Intertape. I once again flipped the stencil upside and downside to get the designs to move two different ways. I filled the designs with embossing powder, embossed it, and then filled in the spaces in between with glitter.

All the paper is from Bo Bunny.

I really loved working on this page and the results that I got. When I get it back, I will probably put it in Scrap Tales for a little while in case any of my local friends want to check it out.

Dreamweaver Design Team!

I am so excited! I found out today, that I have a place on the brand new Dreamweaver Design Team for 2010-2011! Anyone who goes to Scrap Tales, knows that I absolutely LOVE these stencils. I think the designs are so strong and versatile, and now I get to prove it! I don't think that they would mind if I post a couple of pictures of my entries. (Although I do have to warn everyone that I was in a hurry, so the picture did not turn out as well as I like.) I'll post another entry in a few days.

The first is a mirror that was from IKEA and done in many different techniques. I used stencils to paint the clouds, trees, and water. I used the green paste on the foreground trees. Then, I stenciled the geese with the original paste and painted over it with inks once it was dry. The Bear and the moose were pasted with the Glossy Black and flocked. The mooses horns were pasted over with crackle and painted. The bear got American Crafts Opaque embossing powder pasted on the snout and ears and heated. Finally, the rock was pasted with glossy black and then the crackle with just the spatula.

June Card Class Peek

Okay, here is a peek at one of the cards from my upcoming June Card Class. This card was inspired by one that I had the chance to do at CHA. It involves a technique that even Claudia hasn't done yet. You use a background stamp and Versamark ink, then emboss with clear powder. After that, you can paint into the flowers with ink, using the embossing as a resist. It is really alot of fun. If you live in the area, come out to my class at Scrap Tales on June 12th and give it a try! You could also stop by the store to see all of the class samples at once.

Way Too Long

Wow! It has been WAAAYYYY too long since my last post. I am so sorry. I have been working hard on a couple of new possibilities. If anything happens with them, this will be an exciting year, indeed. Hopefully for all of us.
Also, the Scrap Wars program has started and I have been drafted as a captain. I am planning on taking this biweekly opportunity to really stretch myself. I am hoping to have the presence of mind to actually photograph my work from now on (unlike this week) so that I can show people what I am up to. This first week's project was to use paper we were given from My Mind's Eye. I made a page that I am really proud of, but it prompted Victoria to exclaim, "Wow, that's alot of flowers!" To which I responded by adding another flower. I was challenging myself to excess. It was not necessarily excessive for others, but it definitely was for me--and I love it!

Victoria's Big Year

I had a great time making this page in honor of Victoria in her senior year. The paper is a beautiful Reminisce collection. The Swirl is the Bazzill 'N Stitchz pattern with Balger cord in silver. Most of the other extra goodies were made using the Silhouette. The rose and her name were both cut on the machine using the new velvet paper. (I made a few extra roses for Scrap Tales. I only wish the paper came in yellow, too.) The rhinestone 2010 was made using the numbers from the rhinestone beginners kit for the Silhouette. The block M is University from the Quickutz company cut out of the velvet. The "paper" behind it is actually white card stock with a design drawn with the sketch pens. The design uses the Maverick horse logo and words that spell out her school name and all the activities that she was involved in. (I am starting a Silhouette club on May 18th at Scrap Tales, and the first month we will be discussing ways to use the sketch pens. This technique is definitely going to be tried.)

I decided to run a class based on a neat little book that I made at the Creative Imaginations party while at CHA. Unfortunately, the store was out of all the CI music paper that was used, so I had to try something else. I wound up using this ridiculously cute Bo Bunny line. Linda told me that it was called a "Flag Book". It was pretty easy to do, once I wrapped my head around it.

First, you decide the size you want the book to be overall. Then choose the top flag size and the bottom flag size. Make an accordian fold binder. Then you put all the top flags on one side of the accordian V (I chose facing away from me), and the bottom in the other direction (obviously facing towards me). You wind up seeing the entire piece of the top flag and part is hidden behind the V on the bottom flag. Then, you decorate. If you have done it right, when you open the cover, some of the flags face you and some face away from you. It stands upright (think desk or mantle), quite nicely. I hope the pictures can shed some light on this.

Queen Bee Shirt

I made this shirt for a store sample for Scrap Tales. It was inspired by a comment from the store owner, Lisa, who said that she wanted a shirt that said Queen Bee. Then, I remembered this cool bee pattern I had seen on the Silhouette website. I was thinking that it would be perfect for my aunt, Virginia, whose husband keeps bees. So, I downloaded the 99 cent bee pattern and large honeycomb pattern. I used the flat T Shirt transfer material for the honeycomb pattern and the flocked T Shirt material for the bee. Then, I added the word Queen with the Silhouette rhinestone patterns. (The letters are from the beginner kit.) The final touch was the Art Glitter in the color Polar Bear, adhered with the Art Glitter Fabric Glue.

So, now people are suggesting that I run a class in it. I will, but I feel a little guilty, because it was so easy to do.
