Witch Legs--Wrapped Up in Costumes


Today's project is doing double duty--both as a 31 Days of Halloween post, and my answer to the "Wrapped up in Costumes" theme for Stampendous.  I used it for the theme because it reminded me of an adorable witch costume.  

Here's how I did it:

MATERIALS:

Witch Boots Metal Stencil FMS4035
Palette Knife
Paste Spreader
Regular Embossing Paste
Embossing Powder in Violet Opaque, Clear Emerald, Clear Sparkle Lime and Silver Tinsel
Micro Glitter in Purple, Lime, and Orange
Pearl Tigerlily Glitter
Royal Purple Glass Glitter
Removable Tape
Versamarker Pen
My Colors Card Stock in Black, Harvest Orange, Grape Vine and White
Creative Impressions Ribbon 80263 3/8" Purple and Orange Gingham
White Glue
Zip Dry Glue
Manual Die Cut Machine
Embossing Heat Gun
Rubber Embossing Mat
Rhinestones

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) The card base is 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" folded on the side.
2)  Tape the stencil onto black card stock, using a full strip of tape across the top which will be used as a hinge later.  Be sure to tape all the way around.
3)  Remove paste from the container with the palette knife and place on the bottom of the paste spreader.
4)  Place the paste spreader on the top of the stencil, with the paste facing you.
5)  Pull the spreader towards you, keeping contact with the stencil and filling in the wells with the embossing paste.
6)  Replace the excess paste into the container.
7)  Carefully remove the tape from the sides and bottom of the stencil.
8)  Using the top piece of tape as a hinge, carefully remove the stencil and let the paste dry.
9)  When the paste is dry, use the Versamarker Pen to color in one section that you want embossed.
10)  Cover with the embossing powder, flick off the excess, and heat emboss.
11)  Repeat steps 9-10 until you have colored all the sections that you want embossed.
12)  Place glue in one section at a time and cover with glitter until the while image is finished.
13)  Trim the mats.
14)  Add ribbon.
15)  Assemble the card.

I used the Tando Creative Mini Printer Tray, Penguins Stencil, Three Deer Stencil, Small Chickadees Stencil, Snowflake Stencil, Regular Embossing Paste, Matte Black Embossing Paste, Build a Wreath Die Set, Santa Words Rubber Stamp, Holly Background Rubber Stamp, Opaque White Embossing Powder, Winter Wonderland Sparkly Embossing Powder and Micro Glitter in Red and Silver.  I also used some Deco Art Fluid Acrylics in Silver and Graphic 45 paper.  I pasted quite a bit and used the layers of the chipboard to place layers in the project.

'Tis the Season Snowflake Card

This week, the Stampendous team is having a catalog sneak peek.  We are featuring projects from this July catalog, which includes holiday items.  I guess that means I am doing "Christmas in July".  During the hottest days so far here in Michigan, I am featuring snowflakes.  Here you go:

Here is how it was made:

MATERIALS:

 Snowflake Cascade Metal Stencil  FMS4042
Joys of Winter Rubber Stamp RS-L269
Fitted Frames A DCP1005
Glossy White Embossing Paste DWDGWP
Dreamweaver Palette Knife DWDPK
Paste Spreader DWLM2010
Stampendous Crystal Glitter
Versafine Ink in Majestic
Manual Die Cut Machine (I used a Cuttlebug)
My Colors Card Stock in Winter Lake, Oceanside and Smooth White
Removable Tape
Zip Dry
3D Foam Squares


INSTRUCTIONS:
1)  Tape the stencil down on the back (smooth side) of the card stock with the removable tape.  Be sure to tape all the way around the stencil.  The first piece of tape should go all the way across the top.  It will act as a hinge.
2)  Use the palette knife to remove paste from the jar and place across the bottom of one side of the paste spreader.
3)  Place the paste spreader on the top of the stencil, paste side towards you.
4)  Pull the paste spreader towards you, maintaining contact with the stencil at all times.  It will act as a squeegee, despositing paste in the wells of the stencil.
5)  Remove the excess paste from the spreader using the palette knife and replace into the paste container.
6)  Remove the tape from the three sides of the stencil, leaving the first piece attached.
7)  Using the remaining piece of tape as a hinge, gently lift the stencil from the cardstock and then remove completely.
8)  Sprinkle the wet paste with the glitter and let dry completely.
9)  Stamp the sentiment on white card stock.
10)  Use the frames and the die cut machine to cut the image and its mat.  To get the placement just right, you can use a small piece of the removeable tape across the frame and card stock before you put it into the die cut machine.
11)  When the paste is dry, brush off the excess glitter and add rhinestones.
12)  Assemble the image, using Zip Dry or whatever adhesive you prefer.  You can use the 3D Foam Squares to pop up the sentiment.

Fran's Metal Stencils--Be Our Guest!

This week's Stampendous Theme is Fran's Metal Stencils.  I have to tell you that when I first saw the silverware stencil, I immediately thought of my trip to the Be Our Guest restaurant at Walt Disney World.  In fact, this card was inspired by that restaurant.  I am planning on using both of these stencils on a scrap book page of that experience one day.  I will make several pastings of the silverware and have them "dance" up a border.  Meanwhile, I will probably use the Fleur De Lis Stencil around all the edges.  I guess I will have to wait and see.....But, I digress.  This is the card I made for today:

 MATERIALS:

DWLJ841 Fleur De Lis Stencil
Metallic Silver Embossing Paste
DCP1006 Fitted Frames B
Versamark Ink Pad
Clear Embossing Powder
Palette Knife
Paste Spreader
Embossing Heat Tool
Removable Tape
Stamping Details Rubber Mat
Scrapbook Adhesives E-Z Runner
Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares
My Colors Card Stock in Black Suede, Caribbean Sea and Sea Foam
May Arts Ribbon
Manual Die Cut Machine

DIRECTIONS:
1)    Fold a piece of 8 ½” by 5 ½” paper so that the fold is on the side.
2)     Tape the Silverware stencil face up on the black card stock. Use one large piece across the top of the stencil initially.  It will be a hinge later.  Tape all the way around.
3)    Remove the embossing paste from the container with the palette knife and place on the paste spreader.
4)    Place the paste spreader on the top of the stencil and pull down towards you, filling the holes and keeping contact with the stencil at all times.
5)    Replace any extra paste into the container.
6)    Remove the tape from the bottom and sides of the stencil.
7)    Using the taped top as a hinge, carefully remove the stencil.  Let the paste dry.
8)    While the paste dries, tap the entire back of the Fleur De Lis stencil with the Versamark Ink Pad.  Then put the stencil, inked side up, on the bottom plate of your manual die cut machine.  Place the Caribbean Sea card stock, face down, over the top of the stencil.
9)    Cover the card stock with the Stamping Details mat and then the upper cutting mat on top.
10)                      Run the project through the die cut machine.
11)                     Pour clear embossing powder over the top of the embossed card stock and shake off the excess.
12)                     Heat set the embossing powder.
13)                     Use the Fitted Frames Die and your manual die cut machine to cut out some seafoam card stock.
14)                     Cut out the embossed silverware, trimming close to the images, but leaving a little black.
15)                     Trim the embossed card stock and adhere to a 5 ½” x 4 ½” piece of Caribbean Sea card stock.
16)                     Adhere the background to the folded card.
17)                     Stack and adhere the silverware, and attach it to the frame.
18)                     Tie the May Arts Ribbon around the silverware and frame.

19)                     Use the foam squares to raise the silverware above the rest of the project.

Beach Basics--Shells on the Shore

This week's theme is Beach Basics, and I made a VERY beachy card for you:

Shells on the Shore

MATERIALS:
DWLS06 Small Scallop Stencil
DWLM209 Starfish Stencil
DWLL332 Picasso Shield/Stencil

Acrylic Handle
Versamark Ink Pad
Beach Embossing Kit (I used colors Golden Sand, Baby Blue Pastel, Pacific Blue and Sky Blue)
Opaque Embossing Powders in Ivory and Nutmeg
Regular Embossing Paste
Dreamweaver Palette Knife
DCP1005 Fitted Frames A
Embossing Heat Tool
Removable Tape
White Pearl Gems
DecoArt Media Paint in Yellow Oxide and Quinacridone Gold
Zip Dry
Scrapbook Adhesive Foam Squares
My Colors Card Stock in Spearmint, Tropical Splash, Sweetie Pie and Madarin.
Manual Die Cut Machine
DIRECTIONS:
1)    Fold a piece of 5 ½ ” by 8 ½ ” card stock so that the fold is on the side.
2)    Use the manual die cut machine and the Fitted Frames dies to cut out two sizes of frames—the larger from tropical splash and the smaller from spearmint.
3)    Stamp the phrase in the smaller frame with the Versamark Ink.
4)    Cover with the Pacific Blue Embossing Powder and shake off the excess.
5)    Heat emboss.
6)    Glue the smaller frame onto the larger one.
7)    Tape the small scallop stencil on the sweetie pie card stock.
8)    Tap the Versamark Ink over the stencil, being sure to get the small areas.
9)    Remove the stencil.
10)                     Pour Ivory embossing glitter over the top and shake off the excess.
11)                     Heat emboss using the tool.
12)                     Cut closely to the image.
13)                     Repeat steps 7-12 three times.
14)                     Repeat steps 7-12 with the starfish stencil, mandarin card stock and Nutmeg Embossing Powder.
15)                     Cut a 4 ¼” by 5 ½” piece of the spearmint card stock.
16)                     Place the large wavy end of the Picasso stencil up in the left corner.
17)                     Rub the Versamark Ink pad on the card stock in the upper left hand corner and up onto the stencil.
18)                     Remove the stencil, and pour a color of blue embossing powder over the ink.
19)                     Heat set using the embossing tool.
20)                     Repeat steps 16-19, moving the stencil down, starting the ink under the last color, and changing colors each time, until you reach about halfway down the card stock.  This does not have to be perfect.
21)                     Adhere a couple of the shells and the pearls in the area that will be the beach.
22)                     Color some of the embossing paste with the DecoArt paint until it looks like sand.  Use the palette knife to mix.
23)                     “Frost” the card with your palette knife.
24)                     Add the rest of the shells and the starfish while the project is still wet.  You can place them partially in the sand.
25)                     WHILE IT IS STILL WET, sprinkle some of the Golden Sand Embossing powder all over the “sand”.  Do not emboss.
26)                     Use the Versamark Ink pad all over the back of the stiletto stencil to create a resist.

27)                     Glue the top to the card.

DIRECTIONS:

2)     Tape the Plumeria stencil face up on the Sky card stock. Use one large piece across the top of the stencil initially.  It will be a hinge later.  Tape all the way around.
3)    Remove the embossing paste from the container with the palette knife and place on the paste spreader.
4)    Place the paste spreader on the top of the stencil and pull down towards you, filling the holes and keeping contact with the stencil at all times.
5)    Replace any extra paste into the container.
6)    Remove the tape from the bottom and sides of the stencil.
7)    Using the taped top as a hinge, carefully remove the stencil.  Let the paste dry.
8)    While the paste dries, tap the entire back of the Cathedral Windows stencil with the Versamark Ink Pad.  Then put the stencil, inked side up, on the bottom plate of your manual die cut machine.  Place the pink card stock, face down, over the top of the stencil.
9)    Cover the card stock with the Stamping Details mat and then the upper cutting mat on top.
10)                      Run the project through the die cut machine.
11)                     Pour clear embossing powder over the top of the embossed card stock and shake off the excess.
12)                     Heat set the embossing powder.
13)                     Color over the dried glossy paste with Copic Markers.
14)                     Trim the flower image and adhere to the darker blue mat.
15)                     Trim the embossed Cathedral Windows card stock and adhere to a dark blue mat.
16)                     Adhere the background to the folded card.
17)                     Tie the May Arts Ribbon around the bottom of the flower unit.

18)                     Use the foam squares to raise the flowers above the rest of the project.
