Woodware and Dreamweaver Blog Hop--Christmas in August!

Welcome to the annual Dreamweaver and Woodware Christmas in August extravaganza week! Monday through Saturday we will be knocking your Christmas stockings off with fun and inspirational ideas for the upcoming holidays. All that you need to do is hop back and forth across the "pond" on each day, oohing and aaahhhing as you go, and leaving us plenty of holiday love. In return, you'll be entered to randomly win one prize package for a UK commenter, and a second prize package for a US commenter, featuring products distributed in the UK by Woodware...including Dreamweaver and Stampendous!

Prize includes four stencils, one die, and two stamps, selection may vary.

Here is my creation today:
I used:
Scissors
Green Card Stock
Manual Die Cut Machine
Sanding Block
Cotton Swabs
A Very Quick Tutorial (because I can't help myself)
1)  Cut the metal to just a little larger than your stencils--red for the background, green for the other two.
 2)  Run all three through the die cut machine with your mats and the Dreamweaver Rubber Mat (it pushes the metal into the stencil).  Place the background stencil face down with the red face down on top and the rubber mat over that.  That is embossing.  The other two stencils go face up with the green over them face (green side) up and the rubber mat over the top of that.  This is debossing.  Do not remove the stencils from the metal.
 3)  For the saying and the mistletoe, use the fine tip of the teflon tool to push the image in a little bit more.  You will be running it around the edge of the stencil.  You can "color" in the inside as well if you like.  I did.
4)  With the stencil still in place, sand both of the green metal parts.  The green should come completely off the raised parts.

 7)  Remove the stencil from the red metal and gently sand off some of the color.
 8)  Place a little of the Color Solutions Cleaner on the cotton swab and remove the green color from the inside of the berries and the bow.

 9)  Use the cotton swabs to add the Winter Red Color Solutions in the bow.

 10)  Sand off any excess color.
11)  Remove the mistletoe and saying from the stencils and place on Double Sided Mounting Paper.
12)  Use the flat end of the Teflon tool to burnish the metal down to the mounting paper.  You do not need to burnish everything, just the flat parts around the image.
 13)  Squeeze the Liquid Pearls into the berry sections and let dry.

14)  Place mounting paper under the background metal.
15)  Trim around the edges of all pieces and assemble.

Now's the time for you to leave a comment and move on to the next designer for today:

Stampendous and Dreamweaver: Summer Fun Day Four

It's fun in the sun time again with another collaboration between Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils! We'll be playing together all of this week, with a fabulous hop on Friday, August 2nd, featuring a slew of amazing talent from both teams, and of course...prizes!!!

Two prize packages will be given away for the comments left on posts Monday-Thursday, July 29th - August 1st, and one prize will be given away for comments left on the hop day, Friday, August 2nd. Winners will be selected randomly and announced Thursday, August 8th. (Note: USA addresses only, please, due to shipping costs.) Here's what you could win:

Stampendous Surfer and Sandcastle Kiddos • Dreamweaver Hot Air Balloon, Ice Cream Cones, Summer, Mosaic Swirls, Bird Words, and Sandcastle stencils

 Here's what I created:

 Here are my simple instructions:
MATERIALS:
Stampendous Cling Breathe Stamp
Dreamweaver Stencil LM 267 Lg Conch
Dreamweaver Stencil LJ 880 Deckle Edge
Dreamweaver Stencil LJ 838 Waves
Mercart Metal Medium Blue Coated Aluminum
Pearlescent Embossing Paste
Palette Knife
Removable Tape
Acrylic Block for Stamping
Stayzon Jet Black Ink
Sanding Block
Craft Knife
Drawing Blending Stump
Patterned Paper
Card Stock
Adhesive
Brads

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Pick a spot to place the stamp and sand off the blue from the area.
 2)  Stamp with Stayzon or another solvent ink.  Using the cling stamp with the acrylic block makes it easy to place it exactly where you want it.
3)  Use the removable tape to position and secure the stencil in place.
4)  Spread the Embossing Paste over the stencil with the palette knife.
5)  Remove the stencil and let the paste dry completely.
6)  Position the metal over the deckle edge stencil and "find" the edge with a blending stump.
7)  Run your craft knife gently around the edge of the deckle stencil to cut the metal.  It does not need to be exact.
 8)  Place the project on top of the wave stencil and rub with the blending stump.  Use it only in the areas that you want the waves to appear.  Avoid the area around the pasted shell.
 9)  Lightly sand over the areas that you want the waves to really show up.  Avoid the pasted shell.

10)  Assemble the card.

I hoped you liked my project.  Be sure to leave comments here and on the blogs linked below for your chance to win.  Good luck!

Summertime, Sparklers and S'more (Dragonflies)

This month's Dreamweaver Challenge is Summertime, Sparklers and S'more.  This week, I was inspired by all the fireflies that seem to surround my house all summer.
I used black coated aluminum by Mercart.  I ran the Hello Stencil LS 96 and Mosaic Swirls LJ 801 through my Cuttlebug.  I sanded the metal to reveal the aluminum.
I pasted the Dragonfly Stencil LM 193 with Black Matte Paste.  When it was dry, I used my finger to apply Moonstone Metallic FX, Kiwi Metallic FX and Ivy Garden Metallic FX.  Then, I assembled it with card stock, a gorgeous May Arts ribbon and two rhinestones.
The dragonfly really shimmers.  Here is a closer look:

Now, you should take a look at all the other team members playing today, get inspired, and create something yourself.  Send a picture of your creation to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com for your chance to win this month's prize.

Dreamweaver Summer, Sparklers and S'more Challenge

Happy Fourth of July everyone!  A new month means a new challenge over at Dreamweaver Stencils.  This month, it is Summer, Sparklers and S'more!  Don't forget to send a picture of a project to Lynell@Dreamweaver Stencils for your chance to win!  Oh, and speaking of winning, be sure to check out the Dream It Up Blog to see who won our Ranger Collaboration Blog Candy.  Thanks for all of the wonderful comments, by the way....I read and cherished all of them.
On to this week's project.  I was inspired by those Dry Stickles and decided to create another project with them.  This one is almost a reverse of the last one, starting, as it were with the embossing powder.  Let me show you.....
 MATERIALS:
Dreamweaver Stencil LG 701 Carp
Dreamweaver Stencil LJ 838 Waves
Dreamweaver Gold Embossing Paste
Palette Knife
Removable Tape
Double Stick Mounting Paper
Handmade Hawaiian Soap
Large Stencil Brush
Ranger Clear Embossing Powder
Ranger Dry Stickles in Cinnamon
Ranger Dry Stickles in Gold
Ranger Dry Stickles in True Blue
Craft Sheet
Heat Gun
Scissors
White Card Stock
Blue Card Stock
May Arts Ribbon

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Use the removable tape to place the carp stencil over the white card stock.  Tape it all the way around the stencil and directly onto your craft sheet.
2)  Use the palette knife to spread the gold embossing powder all the way down the stencil.
 3)  Remove the stencil carefully, using the tape one one side as a hinge.
 4)  Sprinkle the Cinnamon and the Gold Dry Stickles onto the embossing paste while it is still wet.  Then, let it dry completely.
 5)  While the fish are drying, rub the soap on the back of the wave stencil.
6)  Use the stencil brush to remove any "soap crumbles" that have accumulated against the stencil.
7)  Remove one side of the protective paper on the Double Stick Mounting Paper.
8)  Place the stencil SOAP SIDE DOWN on the exposed adhesive.
9)  Pour clear embossing powder over the stencil and rub in with your finger.
10)  Lightly tap the embossing powder off of the stencil.
11)  Flip the project upside down and carefully remove the paper from the stencil.  Keep the stencil flat on a smooth, hard surface while you do this.
 12)  Use the heat gun to melt the powder.
 13)  Pour the True Blue Stickles over the project.
 14)  Rub in with your finger.
 15)  Brush off the excess powders, revealing the white embossed areas beneath it.
16)  Trim around the now dry fish and assemble the card.
Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed the post.  Please visit the other team members to see what summery inspiration they might have for you.  Get inspired to make something summery yourself and don't forget to send it in!
