Some Seaside Summer Fun--Shell Search

Summer officially starts this week.  In honor of the season, Stampendous is having a Seaside Summer Fun Week.  Here is my post, featuring the House Mouse critters:

Here's how I made it

Big Bite, or other strong hole punch

Prismacolor Pencils in French Gray 30% and 90% , Cool Gray 10%, 20%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 90%, White, Blush Pink, Deco Pink, Pink Rose, Spring Green, Lime Peel, Olive, Marine Green, Yellow Chartreuse, Dark Umber, Light Umber,  Sepia, Burnt Ochre, Orange, Pumpkin Orange, Terra Cotta, Sand,  Jasmine, Canary Yellow, Goldenrod, Light Aqua and Deco Aqua.

Zip Dry

My Colors Card Stock in Tropical Splash, Poolside and Spearmint

Corregated Kraft Card Stock

Raffia in Green and Natural

DIRECTIONS:

1)    Fold a piece of 12” by  6 ” card stock so that the fold is on the top.

2)    Stamp the Shell Search image onto the mixed media paper with the Momento Ink.

3)    Color the image with the pencils.

4)    Stamp the Sentiment with Versamark Ink and cover with the embossing powder.

5)    Tap off the excess powder and heat emboss with tool.

6)    Sand one side of the shrink plastic.

7)    Stamp the other side of the shrink plastic with the shell image and the Stazon Ink.

8)    Use the manual die cut machine and the fitted frames die to cut a pretty frame around the sentiment.

9)    Use the die cut machine and the shell die to cut around the stamped shell image.

10)                     Color the back of the shell image with colored pencils.  Be sure to color with the white to make the shell opaque.

11)                     Use the hole punch to create a large hole in the plastic shell.

12)                     Use the heat embossing tool to shrink the shell.  Be sure to do this on a non-stick heat proof surface.

13)                     Adhere the image to a poolside mat and then to the corregated board.

14)                     Adhere the board to the background.

15)                     Push the raffia through the hole in the shell.

16)                     Tie raffia ribbon in place.

17)                     Attach the sentiment to the tropical splash card stock. 

18)                     Attach the sentiment with the foam squares to raise it above the background.

DIRECTIONS:

1)  Stamp image onto Mixed Media Paper

2)  Color with colored pencils

3)  Cut out the image and some green card stock with the Fitted Frames using the die cut machine.

4)  Lay a piece of paper towel over the base plate of your die cut machine.

5)  Spray the back of the stencil with the Glimmer Mists and lay, sprayed side up on the paper towel.

6)  Cover the stencil with white card stock, the rubber embossing mat, and the top plates.

7)  Run through the machine.  Let the card stock dry.

8)  Assemble the card.

Tombow Collaboration--Fun with Pencils and Markers!

Today, we have a blog hop using Tombow products, including a couple of wonderful prizes, so read on for your chance to win.
My project using these products is a Halloween card.

It was very easy to make.  All I had to do was stamp my Pumpkin Carving Rubber Stamp with Memento Ink on Mixed Media Paper.  These are products that were given to me by Stampendous for being on their design team.  Then, I tried out the Tombow Recycled Color Pencils, that I received as a gift from Tombow for participating in the hop this week.  I used a light, medium and dark color for each area.  This was a very relaxing experience, and the colors blended well.  I used a couple of layers to build up thick color.  Then, I moved to my Dual Brush Markers.  These markers are water based, and I love them so much that I purchased them in most of the available colors.  Today, I scribbled the colors 606, 665 and 679 on my Blending Palette.  Then, I used my water brush to pick up the colors and paint them onto the background.  The build up of colored pencils helped to resist the water in the spots where I accidentally painted over the lines.  To create even more texture, I colored over parts of the background with the pencils.  Then, I mounted the image on some card stock, and I was done.  Here is what those colored pencils look like:

Mousey Mischief and Dreamweaver

The theme this week is "Mousy Mischief" and, of course, this is Dreamweaver Thursday, so what is a girl to do?  Combine the House Mouse with a lovely Dreamweaver background.

To create it, I used the LJ 902 Black Eyed Susan Stencil with Dreamweaver Regular Embossing Paste.  I stamped the Potted Mouse Stamp on the Mixed Media Paper with Memento Ink. When the paste was dry, I colored it and the flower and stem on the stamped image with Spectrum Noir Markers.  Then, I colored the rest of the stamped image with my Prismacolor Colored Pencils.  Then, I simply mounted them on card stock and assembled the rest of the card.

Instructions:

1. Cut the card base to 5 1/4" by 9 1/4" and fold on top.
2. Cut the teal card stock to 5 1/4" by 4 5/8" and adhere to the front of the card base.
3. Stamp your choice of words from the Joyful Phrases on the Mixed Media Paper.  I placed a couple of phrases on the stamping block at a time, and randomly stamped them across the paper, not concerned with overlapping and running off the page.  Use the Bamboo VersaMagic for this.
4. Trim the stamped image to the size you want.
5. Use the Bamboo VersaMagic to distress the edges of the card stock
6. Create a slightly larger rectangle from burgundy card stock and adhere the Joyful Phrase image to it.
7. Adhere the burgundy rectangle to the teal card stock on the base.
8. Stamp the Joyful Noise Image with Memento Tuxedo Black on the Mixed Media Paper.
9. Color the Joyful Noise image with the Chameleon Markers.
10. Trim closely around the Joyful Noise image.
11. Run the Joyful Noise image through the Xyron Machine and attach to the Joyful Phrases layer.  Overlap a little of the holly on the mats.
12. Use the glue pen to attach clear glitter over the coloring on the mouse wings and gold micro glitter to his halo.

Shower of Showers Week 3

Ever use the expression, "When it rains, it pours"? This does not have to be a bad thing, does it? For the month of April, the Dream Team are featuring "Showers of Showers" as our theme. As usual, we'd love for you to play along. Here's what I'm showering you with this week...

As you can tell, for this week, I took the showers them quite literally, and went for rain showers. I paste embossed through the LJ 905 Rain stencil with Pearlescent Embossing Paste.  While the paste was still wet, I tossed on a just little Stampendous Fine Crystal Glitter.  The cute little mouse is the Rain Flower Rubber Stamp.  He is colored with Chameleon Pens.

Christmas in August with Dreamweaver and Woodware!

Welcome to the annual Dreamweaver and Woodware Christmas in August extravaganza week! Monday through Saturday we will be knocking your Christmas stockings off with fun and inspirational ideas for the upcoming holidays. All that you need to do is hop back and forth across the "pond" on each day, oohing and aaahhhing as you go, and leaving us plenty of holiday love. In return, you'll be entered to randomly win one prize package for a UK commenter, and a second prize package for a US commenter, featuring products distributed in the UK by Woodware...including Dreamweaver and Stampendous!

Prize includes four stencils, one die, and two stamps, selection may vary.

Here's what I've created:

I hope you enjoy these cute little mice as much as I enjoyed creating them.  They are part of the House Mouse collection now from Stampendous. This one is called Hang on Tight. I stamped it with an archival ink, which I then heat set.  They were colored with Derwent Inktense water soluble ink pencils.  The background was created by running Black Coated Mercart Aluminum through my die cut machine with the Dreamweaver Rubber Mat and Snowflake Stencil LJ 819 (see embossing tutorial from Thursday).  It was sanded to reveal the snowflakes.  The Happy Holidays Stencil LM 139 was debossed with Red Coated Aluminum (again, see Thursday's post) and enhanced with the Mercart Teflon Tool before being sanded.

I used shrink plastic for the snowflakes.  First, I cut hexagons with my die cut machine, and then I sanded them.  I taped the sanded side to the back of the stencil.  The larger snowflakes were LL 399 Traditional Snowflake and LL 396 Gothic Snowflake.  The smaller snowflakes were from the Snowflake  Stencil LJ 819.  I used a stencil brush to apply black pigment ink on to the shrink plastic.  I punched a large hole in them and used my heat gun to shrink them.  They were attached with embroidery floss and accented with small rhinestones.
