Beach Basics--Shells on the Shore

This week's theme is Beach Basics, and I made a VERY beachy card for you:

Shells on the Shore

MATERIALS:
DWLS06 Small Scallop Stencil
DWLM209 Starfish Stencil
DWLL332 Picasso Shield/Stencil
SSC1246 Ocean Wisdom Perfectly Clear Stamp Set
Acrylic Handle
Versamark Ink Pad
Beach Embossing Kit (I used colors Golden Sand, Baby Blue Pastel, Pacific Blue and Sky Blue)
Opaque Embossing Powders in Ivory and Nutmeg
Regular Embossing Paste
Dreamweaver Palette Knife
DCP1005 Fitted Frames A
Embossing Heat Tool
Removable Tape
White Pearl Gems
DecoArt Media Paint in Yellow Oxide and Quinacridone Gold
Zip Dry
Scrapbook Adhesive Foam Squares
My Colors Card Stock in Spearmint, Tropical Splash, Sweetie Pie and Madarin.
Manual Die Cut Machine
DIRECTIONS:
1)    Fold a piece of 5 ½ ” by 8 ½ ” card stock so that the fold is on the side.
2)    Use the manual die cut machine and the Fitted Frames dies to cut out two sizes of frames—the larger from tropical splash and the smaller from spearmint.
3)    Stamp the phrase in the smaller frame with the Versamark Ink.
4)    Cover with the Pacific Blue Embossing Powder and shake off the excess.
5)    Heat emboss.
6)    Glue the smaller frame onto the larger one.
7)    Tape the small scallop stencil on the sweetie pie card stock.
8)    Tap the Versamark Ink over the stencil, being sure to get the small areas.
9)    Remove the stencil.
10)                     Pour Ivory embossing glitter over the top and shake off the excess.
11)                     Heat emboss using the tool.
12)                     Cut closely to the image.
13)                     Repeat steps 7-12 three times.
14)                     Repeat steps 7-12 with the starfish stencil, mandarin card stock and Nutmeg Embossing Powder.
15)                     Cut a 4 ¼” by 5 ½” piece of the spearmint card stock.
16)                     Place the large wavy end of the Picasso stencil up in the left corner.
17)                     Rub the Versamark Ink pad on the card stock in the upper left hand corner and up onto the stencil.
18)                     Remove the stencil, and pour a color of blue embossing powder over the ink.
19)                     Heat set using the embossing tool.
20)                     Repeat steps 16-19, moving the stencil down, starting the ink under the last color, and changing colors each time, until you reach about halfway down the card stock.  This does not have to be perfect.
21)                     Adhere a couple of the shells and the pearls in the area that will be the beach.
22)                     Color some of the embossing paste with the DecoArt paint until it looks like sand.  Use the palette knife to mix.
23)                     “Frost” the card with your palette knife.
24)                     Add the rest of the shells and the starfish while the project is still wet.  You can place them partially in the sand.
25)                     WHILE IT IS STILL WET, sprinkle some of the Golden Sand Embossing powder all over the “sand”.  Do not emboss.
26)                     Use the Versamark Ink pad all over the back of the stiletto stencil to create a resist.

27)                     Glue the top to the card.

Love, Dreamweaver and Stampendous!

This week, Stampendous has our hearts!  Yes, we have a heart theme this week.  I am creating using the Dreamweaver Swirly Heart Stencil and some Embossing Paste.  I have also included one of my personal favorite sentiments by Stampendous.  I feel this way about my husband of almost 20 years.....He will forever be my always....
Here is my card:
Here is how I created it:

Materials:
SSC1238 Love Always Perfectly Clear Stamps™
SSH38 Small Perfectly Clear™ Acrylic Handle
Crystal Glitter
Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Core'dinations Card Stock
Versafine Vintage Sepia
May Arts Ribbon
Removable Tape
Scotch by 3M 1/2" Adhesive
Craft Glue Dots
Big Bite
Paper Trimmer

Instructions:

  1. Cut base 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" and fold on the side.
  2. Tape the Swirly Heart Stencil over pink card stock and using the removable tape.  Make sure to cover the top first with one piece of tape, which will be the hinge. Tape all the sides.
  3. Use the palette knife to remove the paste from the jar and place it on the paste spreader.  Be sure to create a strip across the paste spreader that will cover the entire width of the Swirly Heart Stencil.
  4. Place the paste spreader on top edge of the heart stencil.
  5. Pull the paste spreader towards you, keeping it in contact with the stencil, and filling in all the wells.
  6. Use the palette knife to remove the excess paste and place it back into the container.
  7. Carefully remove the tape from the bottom and sides of the stencil.
  8. Lift the bottom edge of the stencil, using the remaining tape as a hinge, then completely lift the stencil from the project.
  9. While the paste is still wet, pour the glitter over the paste.  Let the paste dry completely.
  10. Use the handle and the Love Always Stamp with the Versafine on white card stock.
  11. Trim the stamped image and create a mat around it with brown card stock.
  12. Use the Big Bite to make holes in the heart background and add the ribbon.
  13. Assemble the card.

A Child is Born Theme

The Stampendous theme this week is "A Child is Born".  Of course, it is also Dreamweaver Thursday, so I included the use of a stencil.  It is one I haven't used much before and I was really pleased with the results.  Here is the card:


MATERIALS:
Large Peace on Earth Stencil DWLX7019
Stencil Brush
Crystal Glitter
Aged Gold Embossing Enamel
Detail Gold Embossing Powder
Silver Embossing Enamel
Detail Black Embossing Powder
Starry Night Embossing Powder
Versamark Watermark Ink Pen
Double Sided Mounting Paper
Handmade Hawaiian Soap, or any other soft, vegetable based soap
May Arts Ribbon
Embossing Heat Gun

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Soap the back of the stencil until the silvery color is covered with a foggy film.  Brush off the excess soap crumbles with the stencil brush.
2)  Remove the paper from one side of the Double Sided Mounting Paper and place the stencil on it, soap side down.
3)  Cover the star with the crystal glitter.
4)  Fill in the words, city and wise men with the Detail Gold Powder.
5)  Fill in the center area with the Silver Embossing Powder.
6)  Fill most of the dune areas with the Aged Gold Embossing Enamel.  Press it in with your finger.
7)  Fill in the empty spaces of the dunes with additional Detail Gold Powder.
8)  Flip the project upside down and lay on a smooth, flat surface.
9)  Carefully remove the paper from the stencil, leaving the stencil flat on the surface.
10)  Use the heat fun to emboss all of the areas except for the star,
11)  Pour Detail Black Embossing Powder around the filled areas and the words, surrounding the front of the camels as well and surrounding the city.
12)  Pour the Starry Night Powder over the rest of the exposed mounting paper.
13)  Heat emboss.
14)  When the project is cool, use the Versamark Pen and various embossing powders to fill in any gaps.  Heat emboss these.
15)  Adhere the mounting paper onto the next layer of card stock.
16) Assemble, using a ribbon to add a bow.

Family Time with Friends Dreamweaver Cardinal Card

This week, the Stampendous team is posting on the theme "Family Time with Friends".  My post might not seem to fit that theme, but I can assure you that it does.  My grandmother always loved cardinals.  I lost her a year and a half ago, but will always think of her any time that I see cardinals, and I created this card with her in mind.  She also loved to sing.  She was asked to sing with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra when she was only 17, but her father wouldn't allow it.  She still sang throughout her life, and even in the nursing home, she was known as the singing lady.  Me, well I continue the tradition.  Although I have never been a particularly great singer, I sing in a choir.  That is where the friends come in.  I sing with a group of fine men and women that I can call my friends.  Here is how I created my card.

Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Double Sided Mounting Paper
Vegetable Based Soap
Scotch 1/2" Adhesive Tape
Glue Stick
Chameleon Markers in Grass Green and Spring Meadow
Manual Die Cut Machine

Instructions:

  1. Cut card base to 8 1/2" by 5 3/4" and fold at the side.
  2. Cut red card stock to 4 1/4" by 5 3/4".
  3. Stamp the red card stock with the Music Score Stamp using VersaMark.
  4. Stamp white card stock with the Sing Noel phrase using VersaFine.
  5. Cut the mounting paper to the size of the Cardinals N Holly Stencil.
  6. Rub the bar of soap directly on the back of the stencil to make it easier to release later.  When you are done, there should be a cloudy layer over the entire back of the stencil.
  7. Use your stencil brush to brush off any crumbly pieces of soap from the stencil.
  8. Peel one side of the mounting paper and lay the Cardinals N Holly stencil on top of it, soap side on the sticky paper.
  9. Carefully lay small piles of glitter next to the stencil wells that you want to color.  For example, the green glitters should be in/next to the holly sections of the stencil.
  10. Gently push the corresponding colors of glitter into the wells.  Remember that only the first color on any sticky section will color that area.  Push the glitter down slightly.
  11. Use your stencil brush to brush off any excess glitter.
  12. Place the project face down on a flat surface.
  13. Carefully peel a corner up from the edge of the stencil and use it to gently remove the mounting paper from the stencil.
  14. Pour the white pearl glitter over the newly exposed sticky paper.
  15. Brush off any excess glitter.
  16. Remove the backing paper and adhere the glittered Cardinals N Holly to black card stock.
  17. Run green card stock through your die cut machine with the Holly Die.
  18. Color the holly leaf with Chameleon Pens.
  19. Use the glue stick on top of the holly leaf and cover with crystal glitter.
  20. Create green and black mats for your main images and adhere them.
  21. Attach the music score to the card base and the images to the music score. Use the die cut holly under the words and overlapping the cardinal mat.

Dreamweaver Thursday and Nathalie Kalbach Stamps

Although I am not technically playing along with the Nathalie Kalbach blog hop today, I was inspired to use one of her stamps on my Dreamweaver Thursday card.  Here it is:


 Stampendous:
SSC1190 Say It Today Perfectly Clear Stamps™
NKCRS05 Cling Kaffee Klatsch

Sparkle Puff Embossing Powder
Blue Tinsel Embossing Powder
Micro Glitter in Black, Teal and China Blue
Jewel Royal Ultra Fine Glitter
Pearl White Ultra Fine Glitter
Versamark Ink
Plus:
Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Double Sided Mounting Paper
Vegetable Based Soap

Instructions:

  1. Cut the base 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" and fold in half on the side.
  2. Cut the Double Sided Mounting Paper to fit the Peacock Feather Stencil.  Leave it in a rectangle shape.
  3. Using the Acrylic Handle and Versamark Ink, stamp the Thank You from the Say It Today stamp set onto white paper.
  4. Pour Blue Tinsel Embossing Powder over the Thank You and shake off the excess.
  5. Emboss with the embossing tool.
  6. Using the Acrylic Handle and Versamark Ink, stamp the doily from the Kaffee Klatsch stamp set several times over green paper.
  7. Pour the Sparkle Puff Embossing Powder over the stamped images and shake off the excess.
  8. Heat with the embossing too until the powder turns white and puffs up.
  9. Rub the bar of soap on the back of the Peacock Feather Stencil.  You should have a light film of soap all across the back of the stencil when you are finished.
  10. Use the brush to gently remove the soap "crumbles" off the back of the stencil.
  11. Remove the backing from one side of the mounting paper, revealing the adhesive.
  12. Place the stencil, soap side down, on the adhesive side of the paper.
  13. Pinch some of the black glitter into the "eye" of the peacock feather.
  14. Continue to pinch glitter colors into the wells of the feather stencil.
  15. When all of the stencil wells appear to be covered, rub it in a little with your finger.
  16. Brush off any excess glitter.
  17. Place the project upside down on a hard, flat surface.
  18. Peel a little of the mounting paper from the a corner of the stencil.
  19. Using this piece, slowly remove all of the mounting paper from the Peacock Feather Stencil, while leaving the stencil flat.
  20. Pour the White Pearl Glitter over the top of the feather, brushing off the excess.
  21. Remove the backing from the project and attach it to white card stock.
  22. Use scissors to trim the feather and the Thank You words close to the images.
  23. Assemble the card.

A Stamp. a Stencil and a Snowman.

Do you want to build a snowman?  Although it seems a little early to me, that is the theme this week for the Stampendous Team.  Of course, as a Dreamweaver ambassador of sorts, I had to add in a little stencil work.  (Very EASY stencil work).  This is what I came up with:

Here is what I used:

Plus:
Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Scotch® 1/2" Adhesive Tape by 3M®
Scotch® Removable Tape by 3M®
Chameleon™ Markers (Purple Grape, Crimson Red, Grass Green, Spring Meadow, Sunshine Yellow,  Seville Orange, Black, Bark)
Craft Knife
Sharp Scissors
Ribbon by May Arts
Foam Tape
Heat Embossing Tool
Paper Towel

Instructions:

  1. Cut the base card stock to 6 3/4" x 9" and fold on the side.
  2. Stamp the Whispered Wishes image on Multi Media Paper with Memento Ink.
  3. Cut out the wishes sentiment with sharp scissors or a punch (if you have one).
  4. Adhere the wishes sentiment onto burgundy card stock and cut the mat with scissors or a punch.
  5. Color the rest of the image with Chameleon Pens.
  6. Use the Versa Marker to mark areas that you would like to add more white to.
  7. Sprinkle the White Pearls Embossing Powder over the marked areas and shake off the excess.
  8. Use your Heat Tool to emboss the powder.
  9. Cut around the snowman image with sharp scissors and a craft knife. 
  10. Place the stencil face up on the dark blue card stock and tape down the edges with the removable tape.
  11. Tap your stencil brush in the Versa Mark Ink and tap off the excess on a paper towel.
  12. Rub the ink into the wells of the stencil in a circular motion.
  13. Remove the stencil.
  14. Cover the stencilled card stock with the 3D Embossing Powder and tap off the excess.
  15. Use your Heat Tool to emboss the powder.
  16. Mount the snowman to the blue snowflake paper with the 3D Foam Tape.
  17. Tie the May Arts ribbons around the bottom of the card.
  18. Adhere the card to the background.

Playing With Paste and Oak Leaves

This week, the Stampendous Team is using the theme "Playing With Paste".  Now, as a former Dreamweaver Team member, I use paste a lot, so many projects could work with the theme.  But then, I got to thinking--how often do I PLAY with paste?  And what does that mean to me?  This "Molten Magic" Technique is a real blast.  You get to use glitter and embossing powder on paste, and when you heat it, it all bubbles up and makes a one-of-a-kind image in front of your eyes.  What could be more playful than that? 


Plus:
Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Scotch Removable Tape
Scotch 1/2" Adhesive Tape
Raffia
Heat Embossing Tool
Distress Blending Tool
Distress Ink in Tea Dye

Instructions:


  1. Cut the card stock to 9 1/4" by 5 1/2"and create a fold on the top.
  2. Cut brown paper to 4 5/8" by 5 1/2" and adhere to the front of the card.
  3. Use removable tape to adhere the Oak Leaves Stencil face up on top of a piece of ivory card stock.  Make sure to put the initial strip of tape all the way across the top of the stencil, creating a hinge.
  4. Use the palette knife to place a strip of Gold Embossing Paste across the bottom edge of the paste spreader.  Make sure you have a long enough strip of paste to cover the entirety of the Oak Leaves image from side to side.
  5. Place the bottom edge of the paste spreader directly on the top edge of the stencil with the paste facing you.
  6. Pull the paste spreader towards you across the stencil.  (Think of a squeegee).  The embossing paste should completely fill all the wells in the stencil.
  7. Use the palette knife to remove the excess paste from the spreader and place back in the container.
  8. Carefully remove the tape from the sides and bottom of the stencil, leaving the hinge on top.
  9. Lift the stencil from a bottom corner, like a door and then remove it entirely from the area.
  10. While the paste is still wet, quickly sprinkle the embossing paste, glitters and mica powders over the leaves and acorns that you want to add color to.  If you are careful and only use a small pinch at a time, you can somewhat control where the different colors go.
  11. Use your heat tool above and below the pasted card stock to dry and bubble the paste.  The areas you focus the heat on will bubble the most.  I chose to add a little more texture to the leaves than the acorns.  Be careful not to get too close to the glitter, as you can scorch it, changing the colors.
  12. Trim the ivory card stock close to the leaves image.
  13. Distress the card stock with the Distress Ink and Blending Tool.
  14. Cut brown card stock about 1/2" larger than the ivory card stock in each direction and adhere the leaves image onto it.
  15. Cut rust paper to 4 3/8" x 5 1/4" and adhere the leaves image to it, leaving room for the raffia.
  16. Tie the raffia around the rust card stock.
  17. Adhere the rust card stock to the background.

Flowers and Fairies Week


This week, the Stampendous Theme is "Flowers and Fairies".  I used one of my favorite stencils, Tall Poppies LL3023.  I did receive this stencil for free, along with many others, while I worked on the Dreamweaver Design team.  However, even if I hadn't, I would have likely purchased this one. 
     For today's post, I used the Double Glitter Technique.  First, I soaped the back of the stencil with Handmade Hawaiian Soap.  Then, I gently brushed off the excess soap pieces with a Large Stencil Brush.  The soap acts as a release agent so that you can get the stencil off later. I removed the covering from one side of the Double Sided Mounting Paper and placed the stencil on it, soap side down.  I carefully laid the glitter on the stencil next to the areas I wanted it to fill and carefully pushed it in.  For the black in the center of the poppy, I used the edge of my craft knife to lay it in the area. I rubbed all the colored glitter in with my fingers and then brushed off the excess glitter.  I laid the project stencil side down on a flat surface and carefully removed the paper from the stencil.  Then, I poured White Pearl Glitter over the top of the whole project and brushed off the excess.  The orange border and "distressing" was created by layering the flower project over a slightly larger piece of mounting paper and covering that edge with Tiger Lily Pearl Glitter.  Because the Tiger Lily was a finer glitter than the white, it crept into some of the empty spaces on the original mounting paper.  The glitter colors I used were:  Red Micro Glitter, Black Micro Glitter, Green Micro Glitter, Lime Micro Glitter, Emerald Pearl Glitter, Tiger Lily Pearl Glitter and White Pearl Glitter.  Then, I assembled the card and added some cord and beads.
