Back to August as an Adjective

After all the blog-hopping excitement of last week, we are back to "August as an Adjective".  Yes, that is right, we are using the term august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur", with synonyms such as, "dignified, distinguished, imposing, portly, solemn, staid, and stately". How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up Blog for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.
Here's my creation for this week:

All the metal is aluminum with a medium blue coating.  The part that appears black in the picture is actually navy blue suede paper.  I used the Dreamweaver Stencils LX 2001 Damask and LL565 Script Thank You with the Rubber Embossing Mat in my Cuttlebug for super easy embossing.  The background was embossed, with the metal and the stencil face down.  The Thank You was debossed, with the metal and the stencil face up.  Both were sanded.  I attached the Thank You with both Double Sided Mounting Paper and small jeweled brads.  That's it.  Very simple, and, I think, rather august.  Now, check out the other posts for the week and then try your own.

Here are the team members that are inspiring you today:
Here's my creation:

First, I stamped with a beautiful Woodware stamp on white card stock with Jet Black Archival Ink.  Then, I ran a couple of stencils through my manual die cut machine with the Rubber Embossing Mat.  I ran the Dreamweaver Stencil LX 7002 Plaid through with red velvet paper.  The Dreamweaver Stencil LL557 Long Merry Christmas was used with Red Coated Aluminum.  I put the aluminum red side up over the stencil, which was also right side up.  I enhanced the "debossing" with the Teflon Tool from the Beginner Metal Tool Set.  I used a Qtip with Color Solutions Alcohol Ink Thinner to remove the red in the holly leaves.  I then used a little Color Solutions in Pine Bough to add green to  the leaves.  Finally, a sanding block removed all the color I did not want.  I did all of these steps with the stencil still behind the metal.

The image was colored with Crayola Crayons.  The card was assembled using regular adhesive, Double Stick Mounting Paper behind the metal, 3D Dots and a lovely May Arts Ribbon.

Here's my creation: (or shall I say creations)

This is one stamp, two stencils, two Memory Mist Sprays, two Archival Inks, Stickles and crayons four ways..........

The stamp is from Woodware.

The stencils are Dreamweaver LJ 867 and LX 7002.

The tree is easy to see.  On the first one, I just sprayed through the opening.  On the second and last cards, I sprayed the stencil first and ran it through my die cut machine with the Rubber Embossing Mat.  It worked like a letterpress.  The third card used both of those techniques, first being run through the machine and then being sprayed through the opening.
You say you can't see where I used the Plaid stencil?  Well, I embossed a piece of white velvet paper through the die cut machine with the stencil and the Rubber Embossing Mat and used it on the second and third cards. Here is a closer look:

I used the Memory Mists in Strawberry Daiquiri and Wheatgrass. The Archival Inks are Black and Olive.  I stamped the image first before making the letterpress effect.  The stickles are gold, silver, diamond, eucalyptus and mystery. The crayons added a little extra color here and there.

So there you have it, one card four ways....

August the Adjective

As we are heading towards back-to-school again, it is only appropriate that we break out our dictionary for this month's Dreamweaver challenge..."AUGUST as an ADJECTIVE"!

Merriam-Webster defines august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur", with synonyms such as, "dignified, distinguished, imposing, portly, solemn, staid, and stately". Now, I don't know just how dignified and stately the Dream Team can become for an entire month, but we are all going to give it a try! How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool below for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.
Here's my creation for this week:

I know.  I used metal again.  When I thought of the word "august", it reminded me of all the grand old buildings in beautiful cities around the world.  Many contain beautiful masonry and carvings and some even have copper work.  So, naturally, my thoughts turned to copper and the old Verdi Gris patinas that come from their aging.  This is what became of that thought.
On this project, I used the following Dreamweaver stencils:  LJ 919 Art Nouveau Flourish, LL 3023 Tall Poppy, and LS 1006 Sm Thanks.  I used both copper and copper coated aluminum.  The copper was used for the flowers and the word.  The flowers were hand embossed with the tools in the Beginners Metal Tool Kit.  When I had it the way I liked it, I filled the back with Mercart Filling Paste.  The words and the background were both debossed with the help of a Cuttlebug machine and the Rubber Embossing Mat.  The words were done with copper and the background with aluminum.  I then sanded the background.  I used Color Solutions in Mojito Green, Aquarius and Pine Bough on the copper.  I dripped the solution and moved it around with Q Tips.  I removed a little of the excess with the Color Solution Thinner.  Then, I sanded over the rest.  It was easy to assemble with my 5" Xyron Machine, 3D Foam Squares and a little chipboard.
This is what the Color Solutions look like:
I am very pleased with the results.  Now, take a look at the other posts for this week, and don't forget to enter your own for a chance to win the stencil of your choice.  Oh, and check back again next week for a Holiday Blog Hop with our UK distributor, Woodware.
It is the "A" team this week:
