Fall Fun with Dreamweaver

The Stampendous theme for this week is Fall Fun.  I am using one of my favorite stencils today.

MATERIALS:

Large Oak Leaf Stencil DWLG754
Crusade Stencil DWLX7025
Mixed Media White Paper
Pencil
Faber Castell Pitt Pen in Sanguine
Micron Pens in Red, Orange, Green and Black
Stamping Details Rubber Embossing Mat
Manual Die Cut Machine
May Arts Ribbon
Card Stock

INSTRUCTIONS:
1)  Place the oak leaf stencil on the Mixed Media Paper and lightly trace with a pencil.
2)  Trace all the pencil lines with the sanguine pen.
3)  Add designs with the sanguine pen, including the veining on the leaves.
4)  Create dots with the sanguine pen on the center areas of the leaves.
5)  Create dots for color on the leaves with the red, orange and green pens.  This works best if you cluster like colors in the same area.
6)  Use the black pen to add shading or accents to the image.

7)  Use the crusade stencil and brown cardstock in your manual die cut machine.  The stencil should go face down over the bottom plate and be followed with the card stock face down, the rubber embossing mat and the top mat.
8)  Assemble the card.

Raven Skull Rubber Stamp

Memento Ink

Mixed Media White Paper

Boss Gloss Embossing Ink with Dauber

Glue Dots Removable

Glue Dots Mini

Prismacolor Pencils in Imperial Violet, Copenhagen Blue, Cool Grey 30%, Cool Grey 20%, White, Black, Metallic Silver, Chartruese, Neon Green, Orange, Dark Brown, Yellow Ochre

Black Twine

Black Embroidery Floss

Tapestry Needle

Small, Die Cut Skull  (I used my Silhouette to cut a file I purchased from their store)

Black Card Stock

White Card Stock Base

Craft Knife

Heat Gun

Nonstick Craft Sheet

DIRECTIONS:

1)  Stamp the image on Mixed Media Paper

2)  Color the image with pencils.  The background was colored first with Imperial Purple for the top and Copenhagen Blue for the bottom.   Then, it was burnished with Cool Grey 30%.  The crow was colored with Black first and then burnished on parts with Metallic Silver.  His beak is Yelllow Ochre.  The skull was Black and Cool Grey 20% and burnished with white.  The leaves were Orange, Neon Green, Chartruese and Dark Brown.

3)  Use the tapestry needle to poke a hole in the top of the die cut skull.

4)  Use the Removable Glue Dots to adhere the die cut skull to the craft sheet.  (Otherwise, the little skull will get blown all over the place when you try to heat emboss it.)

5)  Tap the skull with Clear Embossing Ink.

6)  Cover with Opaque White Embossing Powder.

7)  Carefully remove the skull with the craft knife and move it to another location on the craft sheet, gently shaking it to remove any excess powder.

8)  Heat emboss the powder.

9)  Repeat steps 5-8.

10)  Cut the twine into two pieces and adhere one end of each piece around the back of the project with Craft Glue Dots.

11)  Adhere the image to the black card stock.

12)  Apply one Craft Glue Dot under the area where the bow will be and press the twine into it, leaving a 3-4 inch length of twine on either side.

13)  Tie the twine into a knot.

14)  Remove the skull from the craft sheet and use the tapestry needle to thread it onto a small piece of embroidery floss.

15)  Tie the embroidery floss around the knot.

16)  Tie the twine into a bow.

17)  Place Mini Glue Dots in several spots under the bow and twine to attach to the background and press down.

18)  Use Mini Glue dots to press the skull down onto the background.

19)  Attach the card top to the base with Glue Dots.

All About the Dead Theme Week Dreamweaver Spider Card

This week's Stampendous theme is All About the Dead.  While my post doesn't have a skull, skeleton, or anything else dead on it, I can assure you that if THIS were in my house, it would be dead in short order:

Instructions:

1. The base card stock is 5 3/4" by 9 1/4", folded on the top.
2. Tape the Spider Web Stencil down on gray card stock using the removable tape.
3. Tap the large stencil brush on the Versa Mark pad, and then on the paper towels to remove the excess ink.
4. Use the stencil brush in a circular motion over the Spider Web Stencil to create the image with the watermark ink.
5. Remove the stencil from the card stock.
6. Generously pour the 3D White Glitter Embossing Powder over the spider web image and tap off the excess.
7. Use your heat tool to emboss the web.  Do not be alarmed if the complete spider web image does not turn out perfectly.  It adds to the charm and distressed look.
8. Stamp the Halloween Wish Image with Memento Ink on white card stock.
9. Cut around the Halloween sentiment.
10. Use the Distress Ink tool to apply Distress Ink to the edges of the words.
11. Carefully tape the spider stencil in the location you like using the removable tape.
12. Use the palette knife to apply the Embossing Paste.  You will need to put a little paste on the upper part of the stencil and use the back of the knife to pull it down from the top. (Imagine a squeegee).  It will not turn out perfect because it will be running over the 3D embossing powder on the web.
13. While the paste is still wet, carefully apply the rhinestone.  You may want tweezers for this.  If it does not stick, use the white glue to adhere it to the spider body.
14. As you allow the paste to dry, adhere the Halloween Wish sentiment to black card stock and then cut all the way around, a little ways away from the words.
15. Cut purple card stock to fit the outside of the card.
16. Cut a black inner mat.
17. Adhere the gray background to the black mat.
18. Wrap May Arts Twine around the card, adhering it in the back.
19. Adhere the card to be card base.
20. Use the 3D foam squares to place the sentiment on the card.

It's All About the Dead Theme Week

This week, the Stampendous Team is All About the Dead!  Yes, it is Halloween Week, and we are getting creepy!  This project will also serve as a post for the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween.

Materials:

Stampendous Skeleton Lady Rubber Stamp RS-R229
Mixed Media White Paper
Real Red Opaque Embossing Powder
Red Tinsel Embossing Powder
Aged Black Embossing Enamel
Versamark Pen
Stazon Black Ink
Crayola 24 Count Crayon
Black Chalk Paint
Red Rhinestones
Paint Brush
Paper Towels
Embossing Heat Gun
Black Card Stock

Directions:

1)  Stamp the Mixed Media Paper.
2)  Color the image with crayons.  Make sure to color the white sections.  Use a lot of pressure in the areas that you want to make more colorful and less pressure where you would like a more muted look.
3)  Paint over the entire piece with chalk paint and wipe off with a paper towel.
4)  Use the Versamark Pen on the edges and emboss with the Aged Black Embossing Enamel to "distress".
5)  Use the Versamark Pen to add a layer of Real Red Opaque Embossing Powder to create a bloody drip from the top.
6)  Use the Versamark Pen to add an additional layer of embossing powder--this time, using Red Tinsel Embossing Powder to make it appear a little shiny.
7)  Assemble the card.

Stampendous Pumpkin Cat Rubber Stamp RS-R232

Aged Black Embossing Enamel

Lime Micro Glitter

Prismacolor Pencils in Jasmine, White, Canary Yellow, Orange, Neon Orange, Pale Vermillion, Neon Green, and Marine Green

Core'dinations Card Stock

Non Stick Craft Mat

Heat Gun

Craft Knife

Directions:

1)  Stamp on the mixed media paper and let dry.

2)  Color the background using the Tombow Dual Markers and water brush.  Let dry.

3)  Color the pumpkin, moon and cat eyes with Prismacolor Pencils.

4)  Use the Craft Glue Dots to adhere to the orange card stock.

5)  Adhere Craft Glue Dots along the edge of the stamped image.  I found the easiest way to do this is to place the dispenser where you want the dot and wiggle it back and forth a couple of times before you remove it.  

6)  Count the dots you laid down in step 5.  This is how many "spiders" you need.

7)  Cut a 12" piece of the embroidery floss and remove 2 strands of the 6.

8)  Lay the floss on the craft sheet and place Mini Glue Dots over the top of the floss at about 1/2" intervals, starting about 1/4" from the end.

9)  Cover the first Glue Dot with a good deal of Aged Black Embossing Enamel.

10)  Press the embossing enamel into the Glue Dot.  Brush the excess down to the second dot.  Repeat until all the dots are covered in powder.

11)  Heat emboss the powder on the Glue Dots.

12)  Cut the embroidery floss between the Glue Dots.

13)  Using the craft knife, remove the "spiders" from the craft sheet and place carefully in the centers of the Craft Glue Dots.

14)  Use the craft knife to seperate the thread "legs" and press them into position on the larger Glue Dots.

15)  Cover the Glue Dots with Lime Micro Glitter, press in gently and brush off the excess.

16)  Use the craft knife to gently scrape off any glitter that may have stuck to the bodies of the spiders.

Although I am not technically playing along with the Nathalie Kalbach blog hop today, I was inspired to use one of her stamps on my Dreamweaver Thursday card.  Here it is:

Instructions:

1. Cut the base 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" and fold in half on the side.
2. Cut the Double Sided Mounting Paper to fit the Peacock Feather Stencil.  Leave it in a rectangle shape.
3. Using the Acrylic Handle and Versamark Ink, stamp the Thank You from the Say It Today stamp set onto white paper.
4. Pour Blue Tinsel Embossing Powder over the Thank You and shake off the excess.
5. Emboss with the embossing tool.
6. Using the Acrylic Handle and Versamark Ink, stamp the doily from the Kaffee Klatsch stamp set several times over green paper.
7. Pour the Sparkle Puff Embossing Powder over the stamped images and shake off the excess.
8. Heat with the embossing too until the powder turns white and puffs up.
9. Rub the bar of soap on the back of the Peacock Feather Stencil.  You should have a light film of soap all across the back of the stencil when you are finished.
10. Use the brush to gently remove the soap "crumbles" off the back of the stencil.
11. Remove the backing from one side of the mounting paper, revealing the adhesive.
12. Place the stencil, soap side down, on the adhesive side of the paper.
13. Pinch some of the black glitter into the "eye" of the peacock feather.
14. Continue to pinch glitter colors into the wells of the feather stencil.
15. When all of the stencil wells appear to be covered, rub it in a little with your finger.
16. Brush off any excess glitter.
17. Place the project upside down on a hard, flat surface.
18. Peel a little of the mounting paper from the a corner of the stencil.
19. Using this piece, slowly remove all of the mounting paper from the Peacock Feather Stencil, while leaving the stencil flat.
20. Pour the White Pearl Glitter over the top of the feather, brushing off the excess.
21. Remove the backing from the project and attach it to white card stock.
22. Use scissors to trim the feather and the Thank You words close to the images.
23. Assemble the card.

31 Days of Halloween

Welcome to my Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween Post for day 21!  This was a VERY EASY project:

Materials:

Owl Tombstone Rubber Stamp RS-R230

Crayola 24 Count Rubber Stamp

Paint brush

Computer Paper

Stayzon Ink

Black Acrylic Paint

Paper towel

Hemp

Bead

Black Card Stock

Directions:

1)  Stamp onto computer paper with Stayzon and let it dry. 

2)  Color hard with crayons over the entire thing.  Be sure to use an extra layer of crayon in white over the words and the areas you don’t want to color. 

3) Crumple the paper.  

4) Unwrinkle the paper and paint it with the black acrylic paint.  

5) Dab off the excess with a paper towel.

6)  Paint the edges again to "distress".  Let dry.

7)  Assemble the card.
