We’ve got lots going on this week to keep your Summer Vacation hopping with inspiration. In one event we’re hopping all week with one of our very favorite craft partners. May Arts ribbon is an extremely generous sponsor for us here at Stampendous and our Design Team is absolutely in love with their gorgeous ribbons, cords, strings and specialty items. You’ll find loads of beautiful May Arts on all our samples.
Here is my project, which also features this week's Stampendous theme, "By the Sea":
All week you’ve got a chance to check out our Design Team Inspiration as well as the Ribbonistas over at the May Arts Blog. Be sure to comment and tell us where you’re from, because our Australian Distributor The Stencil Specialists are sponsoring a prize for one friend “down under” to win a Stampendous Stamp, a Dreamweaver Stencil and a surprise goodie from their terrific stock of Stampendous merchandise!
I used one of my all time favorite stencils here, the Mermaid Stamp. I stamped it on the Multi Media White Paper with Memento in Tuxedo Black. I knew I was planning on using the Spellbinders Ovals One Bezel, but I didn't have the corresponding dies, so I traced the bezel and then hand cut out the image. I made sure that I trimmed the image so that we could still see the little seahorse. I colored the image with my Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I glued the image down to the bezels and then glued Glass Glitter in Bronze around the edges. When it dried, I covered the whole image in a thick layer of Glastique, from Globecraft Memories. It took a long time to dry, so I wasn't able to add the second layer, but I will soon because it could really use it. The image reminded me of a cameo. As a nod to the cameos worn on a ribbon choker several years ago, I decided that a choker length and some ribbon was in order. Of course, I used the beautiful May Arts ribbons.
