The Final Day of the Stampendous and Deflecto Blog Hop

Here is my official project for today:

I started with the Deflecto 5x7 Black Craft Frame. The picture I wanted to use was horizontal, so I set up the frame that way, even though it is really meant to be vertical. I inserted the picture first because it wasn't exactly centered and I wanted to paint the frame around it. Then, I used Deco Art Media Fluid Acrylics in Prussian Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White and a little Primary Yellow to paint all around the image, leaving brush marks both around the picture and the black frame edge. I used the same combination of paint on some Mixed Media White Paper so that I would have it to stamp and paste on. Then, I let it all dry.
When all the paint was dry, I stamped the words on the painted paper with the Vintage Uppercase and the Vintage Lowercase alphabets. I used Stazon in Jet Black. Using the Large Perfectly Clear Stamp Handle allowed me to line up the whole word (using a "c" as a temporary substitute for the extra "e") at once. I glued the words down with Zip Dry.
Then, I pasted the Large Nautilus Stencil with Pearlescent Paste on another piece of the painted paper and let it dry. I used the Regular Paste and the Waves Stencil to add some interest around the sides of the image. I just held down the stencil and pasted little sections each time. Then, I removed any excess with a craft knife, and moved the stencil to a different location. I used the small Dreamweaver Palette Knife for all the pasting on this project.
When all the paste was dry, I colored on top of the Nautilus Shell with my Cool Gray Chameleon Marker. (Any alcohol marker would do here). Then, I glued the shell and the glass nuggets onto the project with my Zip Dry. Of course, I had to let it dry. (Lots of drying time in this project.)
Finally, I colored some Regular Embossing Paste with some Deco Art Media Fluid Acrylics in Primary Yellow, Quindacridone Gold and Titan Buff and spread it on with my palette knife. While it was still wet, I sprinkled it with Golden Sand Opaque Embossing Powder. I did not heat it. I wanted it to look very grainy and sandy.
And yes, I am quite obsessed with the Nautilus and Waves Stencils lately.....

Yes, I said I had a problem. The first step is to acknowledge it.
Anyway, thanks to the generosity of Deflecto in the planning of this blog hop, I now store my gems in a place that I can see them, all sorted by color:

Pretty, huh? It is the Carousel Rotating 9 Bin. That's right, I said carousel! It rotates. Now I can easily locate my colors when finishing a project. Thanks Deflecto!

Stampendous and Deflecto Blog Hop

This project started with the Deflecto 5x7 Bevel Edge Frame. It creates a lovely, floating look.

To make the fern, I pasted the Maidenhair Fern Stencil with Matte Black Paste on some light yellow card stock. After it dried, I replaced the stencil and pasted with the Crackle Paste. I needed both the Dreamweaver Palette Knife and the Dreamweaver Paste Spreader for this project because the image was too large to paste effectively with just the palette knife. I let the crackle paste dry completely before I colored it with my Chameleon Marker in Spring Meadow. Then, I carefully cut around the pasted image, leaving just a little card stock in the center sections to hold the fern together.

For the dragonfly, I coated the back of the Dragonfly Stencil with a Versamark Ink Pad. I then placed it, coated side down, on some Double Sided Mounting Paper. I pressed some Heidi Swapp Minc Foil in green and holographic silver over the stencil. I used the Small Embossing Tool to really rub it into the sections that I wanted it. After I foiled it as well as I could, I removed the foil and rubbed a little Micro Black Glitter over the project. I brushed the excess away with a Large Stencil Brush. I then placed it upside down on a flat surface and very carefully pulled it from the stencil. I covered the whole thing in White Pearl Ultra Fine Glitter. Then, I carefully cut out the dragonfly.
I placed the picture into the frame. Then, I cut up one of the embossed ferns. I glued all of the fern pieces onto the frame with Zip Dry. Then, I peeled the backing off of the Double Sided Mounting Paper and adhered it onto the frame.
